Disorders characterized by ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) are the most common causes of debilitating diseases and death in stroke, cardiovascular ischemia, acute kidney injury or organ transplantation. During transplantation is subjected blood flow arrest followed a sudden increase oxygen supply at time reperfusion. This essential clinical protocol massive oxidative stress which basis cell tissue damage. The involvement reactive species (ROS) nitric oxides (NO) has been shown be major cause these cellular damages. fact, non-physiological situations, escape endogenous antioxidant control dangerously accumulate cells. recent years, objective find pharmacological treatments reduce prevent appearance ischemic pathologies. very relevant because, due increasing success transplantation, clinicians required use limit organs, preservation against crucial for better review highlights key actors could represent new targets.
